AI Summit 2025: Empowering the Future of Work Through Artificial Intelligence

On August 18 and 20, RELX | Reed Elsevier hosted the much-anticipated AI Summit 2025: Harnessing the Power of AIorganized by the Operations Excellence and Automation team—a two-day hybrid event that brought together employees, leaders, and industry experts to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in the workplace.

The summit was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person sessions at the company’s multipurpose halls with virtual participation, which fostered an inclusive and collaborative environment for learning and innovation across the organization.  

AI Summit 2025 focused on how Generative AI (GenAI) is reshaping the world of work and emphasized the organization’s commitment to building a career-agile, AI-confident workforce. 

Day 1: Setting the Vision
The event opened with a compelling video featuring employees sharing how AI has streamlined their work, allowing them to focus on strategic priorities. A keynote address from RELX | Reed Elsevier President and EVP for Global Operations, Mark Rice, highlighted the role of GenAI in shaping the company’s future and included an engaging AI-generated video that resonated with attendees.

Analytics Association of the Philippines President Michelle Alarcon graced the event and provided industry insights on Agentic AI—systems capable of planning and executing multistep tasks—and emphasized the importance of Responsible AI as a shared responsibility.

Throughout the day, divisional showcases demonstrated how AI is being integrated across the organization. From chatbots that support administrative needs to interactive tools that help employees simulate crucial workplace conversations, the presentations highlighted practical applications of AI that are driving efficiency and innovation. Other showcases included advancements in legal research, finance, coding, and employee experience, all underscoring the company’s strategic approach to digital transformation. 

A session on RELX Adapt introduced a transformation pathway designed to equip employees with the skills and mindset needed to lead change. Panel discussions from various Centers of Excellence explored AI’s impact on content creation, technology enablement, and cultural transformation, reinforcing the idea that AI adoption is not just about tools—it’s about empowering people to think differently.

Day 2: Innovation in Action
The second day of the summit shifted focus to real-world applications and innovation. A spotlight was placed on an internal AI adoption program that continues to enhance productivity and agility across teams.

A major highlight was the Hackathon, where six finalist teams showcased AI-powered projects that addressed real-world challenges. These demos reflected creativity, technical expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence. 

Additional showcases demonstrated how AI is improving customer support through faster response times and personalized experiences, streamlining sales workflows, and significantly reducing content marketing task times. Panel discussions provided broader perspectives on AI’s role in customer service, sales, and marketing, highlighting how AI is driving growth and enhancing customer engagement. 

The Hackathon concluded with an awards ceremony celebrating the ingenuity and collaboration of participating teams. Winning teams were recognized for their outstanding contributions, and runners-up were acknowledged for their innovative ideas. The event became a celebration of teamwork, creativity, and the transformative potential of AI within the organization. 

Closing messages from company leaders reinforced the shared commitment to innovation and people enablement. The AI Summit 2025 was more than a showcase of technology—it was a declaration of readiness. It reminded everyone that while tools and systems are essential, true transformation lies in empowering people to embrace change with confidence and purpose.
